Antwerp billboard goes around the world
IMPACT challenges AI to finish building.
Hasselt, June 6, 2023 – Since last week, IMPACT has had a striking challenge for ChatGPT hung from a construction site along the busy De Keyserlei in Antwerp. Remarkably, the billboard is also enjoying an unlikely following on social media worldwide. Meanwhile, the billboard has been shared, seen, liked, posted or commented on several million times from the US to China. The debate that professionals deserve more respect than they receive today has thus been vigorously initiated.
“Hey ChatGPT, finish this building…” started as a playful nod to encourage all craftsmen, whose skills are the result of years of specialization, know-how and perseverance. A message that, in times of artificial intelligence and advanced automation, reminds us of the skills of craftsmen that are still irreplaceable.
