Am I entitled to paid vacations?
Yes! Whether you work full-time, part-time, through temporary employment or with a permanent contract: everyone is entitled, under certain conditions, to a number of legal (paid) holidays and any substitute days for those holidays.
How many vacation days am I entitled to as a temporary worker?
As a temporary worker, you are entitled to paid vacation days. The number depends on the number of days you worked the year before: the more days worked, the more vacation days the year after!
You worked a full year in a 5-day system?
- You are entitled to a minimum of 20 paid vacations the following year
You worked a full year in a 6-day system?
- You are entitled to a minimum of 24 paid vacations the following year
You were unemployed for a while or doing half-time work?
- You unfortunately have less paid vacation days. Specifically, the number is calculated according to – the number of days worked in the past year. IMPACT is happy to help you with it.
How do I apply for a vacation certificate as a temporary worker?
- Laborer? The RJV provides you with the necessary vacation certificates.
- Clerk? Get your certificates from IMPACT.
Can I take leave as a temporary employee?
If it fits into your client’s schedule, as a temporary worker you may request a vacation day at any time. We do recommend that you discuss this by mutual agreement first.
Attention: do you receive benefits from unemployment, mutual insurance or other? Then be sure to inform the relevant authority if you want to take vacation on days not under contract.
Am I entitled to maternity leave as a temporary worker?
As a mother, you are entitled to fifteen weeks of maternity leave. You are required to take one week of leave before your due date and nine weeks of leave after giving birth. You choose the remaining five weeks yourself. During your maternity leave, you will receive maternity benefits from your health insurance company. So inform IMPACT and your health insurance company as soon as possible.
Am I entitled to paternity leave as a temporary worker?
As a proud dad, you are also entitled to a few days of leave! Current Belgian legislation provides for 15 days of paternity leave. You can take these in one go or in several stages within 4 months of the birth.
The first 3 days of your paternity leave are entirely the employer’s responsibility: you keep your full salary. For the remaining 12 days, the mutual insurance company pays an allowance that amounts to 82% of the capped gross salary. You request your paternity benefit from both your employer and your mutual health insurance company with an extract of the birth certificate.

As a temporary worker, what should I do if I am sick?
Then you are obliged to do some things, otherwise you are not entitled to a guaranteed salary.
- You notify IMPACT before the start of your work. We notify our client – your principal – immediately.
- You submit your medical certificate/sick bill to IMPACT within 48 hours.
- You have at least one calendar month of seniority with IMPACT. Your legal seniority disappears if you do not work for us for more than 7 days.
What if I have a work or traffic accident as a temporary worker?
You have an accident at your workplace:
- Immediately notify your direct supervisor and IMPACT.
- Get care from the company’s medical department, your family doctor or at a hospital.
You have a traffic accident on the way to or from work:
- Get a police report and fill out an accident report.
- It may also be helpful to mention and involve witnesses to the accident.
IMPACT is your employer: you are to notify us of the accident immediately. To report the accident to the insurance company, provide IMPACT as soon as possible with a medical certificate and complete an “accident report. It is also best to notify your mutual insurance company.
