Meet Michela, Recruiter
When I started in the recruitment industry, it quickly became clear to me that I found it very interesting and it is also close to my heart. Offering a candidate a new career, that's very satisfying for him/her as well as for me.
Michela, a recruiter at IMPACT for more than 5 years and Team Coach for about 1 year, studied journalism. She first worked on TV productions. When looking for talent for castings, she realized that that was exactly where she got a lot of satisfaction.
Michela had the opportunity to try out different jobs. She worked for television, especially on broadcast production, organized sporting events and finally found her way to her first love: recruiting. She has since been doing that for 6 years at IMPACT.
“When I started as a recruiter, I noticed that it fascinated me immensely and that I had a knack for it. You help candidates on their way to a new career, and it’s enjoyable for them as well as for myself. I may not have been destined to do this, but in 2004 I became aware that I really get satisfaction out of it.”
Nothing but positive
What Michela likes most about her job, more so than solving challenges every time, is being able to give a fresh start to people who sometimes need it a lot. She handles recruitment, the administrative side, coaching colleagues and so much more. But what drives her every day is helping candidates move forward with a new career, even a new life. She believes in each and every one of them.
“I give people opportunities for a new life. The daily tasks are, frankly, very varied. You start as a junior, you get to know all the profiles and then you become a senior. On top of that, you can get questions to help your colleagues and follow your customers. So what I do every day is meet new people to offer them new opportunities in life … and have a good time with colleagues (laughs).”
I'm there, I'm staying there!
Michela insists that she loves what she does. She wouldn’t see it any other way for any money in the world. When we ask her what her greatest accomplishment at IMPACT is, she answers without batting an eye: the many matches between candidates and employers that she arranged. In fact, she is still in regular contact with the people she helped find jobs and who are still working for the client.
“I’m still in contact with a lot of candidates, some of whom are even working for companies we work with a lot. It’s nice to know that they are staying, that they are doing well and that they are grateful to you. That’s why, even as my position evolves, I’m not ready to stop recruiting.”
All together, all together
Like many IMPACT employees, Michela sees the company as part of her family. She talks a lot about her immediate colleagues, but also explains that it is not difficult to get to know everyone, since she is fortunate to work in a small structure. She also appreciates the small expressions of appreciation IMPACT regularly makes its employees feel, as well as the attention to well-being at work.
“It is indeed a family. And I believe I am experiencing that more and more: we make nice trips, have nice meetings, kick-offs … If possible, the management organizes something. Among colleagues, we regularly do something after work, such as having a birthday party. IMPACT also sends us a gift on a birthday or birth, and at Christmas we invariably get a card in the mail.”
Give me goals!
Michela has a need to transcend herself. She wants to achieve goals and face challenges. At the same time, she doesn’t feel like the sword of Damocles is hanging over the recruiters’ heads. When something is more difficult, they help each other. The human element is always central. And Michela appreciates that.
“I show candidates that I am there for them. I tell them that I do my best to understand them and find a job for them: not a job that brings out my stats, but one in which they can develop themselves and one that they want to continue doing. All kidding aside, of course we have goals to meet. But I will never push candidates to take a job for which they are not suited. I believe people feel the same way.”
Finally, we ask Michela the question: What does she do to have an IMPACT?
She confides that she suspects that the experience she gained over the years is her added value. That background gives her a thorough knowledge of the market and profiles. “My asset is the knowledge of the sector. Even if there are a huge number of companies we don’t know, I am becoming more and more familiar with the positions in our main sectors, construction and engineering. Moreover, I know what I am doing, so I help, support and advise everyone: new colleagues, candidates and clients.”
